Being initially inspired by the shadows of trees she observed on grass, she spent months studying a method that does not present the object as a two-dimensional image on canvas. The selected subject is transformed into an image. This is especially true with living objects or those that will perish like fruit or even humans. Alexa's style of painting is very ephemeral. Only the photographs of her work survive. Trompe-l'oeil art is created through the combination of two methods of painting and photographing. This creates two-dimensional flattened photograph. Meade often incorporates models painted into the environment around them. This allows them to engage with the environment the artist has constructed. The distinctions between performance installation, photography and painting is thus broken.
