Firefly was the next Whedon's success and it's likely that she had an impact. Summer Glau's River Tam was a complicated persona that Glau did well. Tam in the film, as her character in the film called, was subjected to government experiments that were designed to make her the ideal assassin. Tam's control over her emotions was weakened as a direct result. Glau was able to show off not only her acting skills, but her combat skills on Firefly. Glau had the ability to make the most of her athletic abilities since she was trained as an assassin. Her classical education makes her a highly accomplished ballerina. Summer Glau's dance skills encompass tango, flamenco and many other styles. A fractured toe cut off her career. Firefly was on only for one season, yet it had a large fanbase. This was so intense that Whedon came back to the show a couple of years later. Summer Glau was still getting high-quality work throughout the interim. Her appearances on TV shows such as Cold Case or CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
